Karen Hale-Robertson is the Chief Operating Officer at CheckUP and provides leadership, management, planning and co-ordination across their programs and services. Karen oversees CheckUP’s Commonwealth Dept. of Health and Qld Dept. of Education funded health services and marketing, communications, training and business development functions. Karen is an experienced manager with a long career in the health and not-for-profit sectors, including in Australia and in the UK. Karen’s experience also includes mental health policy and program coordination, not-for-profit workforce development, stakeholder engagement and consultation, business development, training, strategic and business planning and people management.

The Department of Education funded ‘Be Well Learn Well’ (BWLW) program is implemented by CheckUP in partnership with the local Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) – Gidgee Healing and Apunipima Cape York Health Council. The BWLW program is an early intervention strategy that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student developmental needs in remote state schools through the delivery of targeted allied health services. The program aims to identify and address behavioural and learning issues to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
